Biography
Tess Finch is an up-and-coming actor, writer and musician based in Vancouver, Canada. With a deep passion for storytelling, Finch strives to capture authentic experiences, feelings and fun through her artistic practice.
Born on the Gold Coast, Tess established a growing presence in Australian independent film and theatre, earning recognition for her nuanced comedic and dramatic work before relocating to Vancouver. She recently starred in, wrote, and composed for the award-winning short A Little Burnt. Her screen credits include three installments of the anthology horror series Project Shivers, and she received a Best Supporting Actor award at Brisbane’s Freshblood Festival for her portrayal of Monica in the comedy The Lab.
As a writer, Finch explores identity, relationships, and personal growth through her work for literature, screen, and stage. Her short stories, Spiced Eggplant Curry and The Prophet, both placed 1st in the Independent Education Union's Literary Competition, with the latter also earning a Highly Commended award in the Kill Your Darlings competition.
As a musician, Finch is recognisable for her genre-blending sound and tender lyricism, drawing influence from indie, pop, folk, and jazz. Tess is soon to release her debut EP, Black Dogs and Daisy Chains, which details the anthology of heartbreak and transformation. Additionally, she has composed scores for short films including The Ick, Sketched and Again.
Currently, Tess is developing an original sitcom television series, a feature film, and a stage play—all projects that blend heart, humour, and a healthy dose of introspection.
